Toscotec to supply a complete tissue line to César Iglesias in Santo Domingo
Toscotec will supply an Ahead 1.8 tissue line to the Dominican Group César Iglesias at its production base in Santo Domingo. This is a repeat order for Toscotec who in 2019 started up a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer on their PM1 as a replacement of an existing cast iron cylinder. The start-up is planned for 2026.

Solenis to apply temporary surcharge in the United States in response to tariff-driven cost increases
Solenis LLC, a global provider of water and hygiene solutions, announced today it will temporarily apply a minimum 5% surcharge on all products and services sold in the United States, effective May 1, 2025. This action is a direct response to rising costs tied to global trade policy changes, including a 145% tariff on China-sourced goods and new global baseline tariffs at or above 10%.
A new era begins at TappiCon 2025

Voith is modernizing PM 3 at Smurfit Westrock Navarra to improve MG paper quality
Voith has received the order to modernize the PM 3 paper machine at Smurfit Westrock Navarra, S.A., in Sangüesa, Spain. Enrique Sanz, Industrial Manager at Smurfit Westrock Navarra, emphasizes: “Working with Voith on this project is another important milestone in our continuous improvement of production capabilities. We are confident in Voith's expertise as a leading full-line supplier and believe that the rebuild will deliver the desired production benefits to enable our continued strategic growth and delivery for our customers.”
SCA signs service contracts with Andritz for pulp mill in Sweden
International technology group Andritz has been awarded significant service contracts by SCA, Europe’s largest private forest owner, to further improve the performance of the Östrand pulp mill in northern Sweden. The contracts include the replacement of an economizer in the recovery boiler and the implementation of the Synergy Services concept for the white liquor plant and pulp drying processes. These improvements will increase availability and efficiency, thus helping to deliver the mill’s primary objective of increasing pulp production.
World’s first fully electric tissue machine operates at full speed at Fortissue
Portuguese tissue manufacturer Fortissue and Toscotec have started up PM1 after a groundbreaking upgrade at their Viana do Castelo production base in Portugal. This Toscotec-supplied Ahead 2.0 line, which first began production in 2015, is now the first tissue machine in the world to operate entirely on electricity at 2,000 m/min.
Andritz acquires A.Celli Paper
International technology group Andritz has signed an agreement to acquire the Italian company A.Celli Paper. A.Celli Paper has decades of experience in the supply of machinery and key equipment for the production of tissue, paper and board grades. In 2020, the company widened its portfolio of winders, rewinders, systems for roll handling and packaging, as well as tissue machines and services through the acquisition of PMT.
Valmet to supply two winders to Wuzhou Special Paper in China
Valmet is to supply two OptiWin Drum two-drum base winders to Wuzhou Special Paper’s paper machine PM 21 in China. This new order follows the customer’s previous winder order, announced in July 2024. The target of this latest investment is to have high-technology winders that can meet the paper machine’s high capacity and quality objectives. The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the first quarter 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Toscotec to participate in Tissue World Düsseldorf
Toscotec will take part in the conference of Tissue World Düsseldorf on 8 April in Düsseldorf, Germany. Stefano Pecchia, Toscotec’s Energy Technology Director, and Gabriele Romanini, Toscotec’s Sales Manager, will deliver a technical speech titled “Decarbonization in the Paper Industry”.
Cybersecurity: Andritz sells Otorio and enters strategic partnership with Armis
International technology group Andritz has entered into a strategic partnership with Armis, the cyber exposure management & security company. Andritz has sold its stake in Otorio, a provider of OT (Operational Technology) and CPS (Cyber Physical Systems) security to Armis who now holds full ownership of Otorio. Andritz will collaborate with Armis to further strengthen its digital customer solutions in this increasingly critical area.
