IFAT 2026: Failsafe conveying of aggressive chemicals in water treatment

Industrial water treatment is technically challenging, especially for pumps that convey aggressive chemicals. To address this issue, Lutz-Jesco is presenting the Peridos FXM peristaltic pump at IFAT 2026, the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies in Munich, from May 4 to 7, 2026 (Hall 3A, Stand 222).

The Peridos FXM series peristaltic pumps work with rotating rollers that press on a flexible hose from the outside, thereby pushing the medium forward in the direction of flow with minimal pulsation. This design, in which the liquid only comes into contact with the hose, makes the pump robust and resilient. This means that aggressive chemicals such as hydrochloric acid for lowering the pH value, sodium hypochlorite for disinfection, and ferric chloride for removing phosphates and turbidity, can be conveyed safely.

Flexible dosing between five bathtubs and one espresso cup per hour

Lutz-Jesco is presenting the new peristaltic pumps in three performance classes to cover a wide range of industrial applications. The Peridos FXM 1 is an entry-level version with a flow rate of 2.8 l/h, the FXM 2 is the mid-range model with 176 l/h, and the FXM 3 is the most powerful version with up to 840 l/h. This is about the same as five bathtubs.

The delivery capacity can be controlled over an above-average range in order to enable the highly precise dosing of chemicals in water treatment. The turndown ratio between the maximum and minimum flow rate is 5000:1. The Peridos FXM 2, for example, covers a delivery range from 176 l/h to 0.035 l/h, which is about as little as an espresso cup.

Another advantage is the space-saving design of the peristaltic pumps. The drive, gear, electronics, and pump head are integrated in a compact housing. This means no separate external drives and control units are needed.

Condition monitoring reduces downtime

To ensure maximum failsafe operation, the peristaltic pumps feature a leak detection system that sounds an early alarm if a hose is damaged. This allows maintenance personnel to act proactively.

The Peridos FXM 2 and 3 models can also be combined with a flow verification sensor. With the sensor's help, operators can monitor the flow rates in dosing processes, immediately detect deviations, and thus ensure the highest product quality.
