Doctor of Technology, Professor Antti Arjas passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Espoo due to a rapidly progressing illness.
Arjas was born on December 16, 1940, in Helsinki to the engineer family of Olavi and Kaja Arjas. He graduated from Tampere High School in 1959 and began his studies at Helsinki University of Technology. Arjas was the ?rst in Finland to earn a doctorate in paper technology under the legendary Professor Niilo Ryti in 1970. Antti Arjas married Anneli Höckert in 1962, and they got three daughters. After Anneli's death in 2006, Antti found a new partner, Marketta, with whom he shared a happy marriage for 18 years.

The Styrian Business Promotion Agency (Steirische Wirtschaftsförderung SFG) presented the award on March 31, 2025, in Graz. The prize was handed over by Regional Minister DI Willibald Ehrenhöfer who oversees Economy, Labor, Finance, Science, and Research in the Styrian Provincial Government.
Andreas Batzer was named the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the management board at Voith Paper in March 2025. In this role, he is responsible for the company's financial strategy and will play a key role in the further development and optimization of processes. Reporting directly to Andreas Endters, President & CEO of Voith Paper, Batzer has taken over the position from Ralf Sorg, who was previously CFO of Voith Paper and has been President Projects since July 2024.

Women have a hard time in the male-dominated technology sector and are taken less seriously. This is a media and societal misrepresentation that urgently needs to be addressed. In a time in which industry faces a shortage of young talent, it is vital that women are not discouraged from pursuing a career in this area. Mondi announced the results of its sixth annual eCommerce trend report “Sustainability and its impact on packaging and online shopping choices”. This comprehensive study examines trends, attitudes and expectations regarding eCommerce and the impact packaging has on the consumer experience. The report presents data from around 6,000 consumers across Czechia, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Türkiye, collected via an online survey in October and November 2024. The findings offer eCommerce brands valuable insights on meeting consumer needs, including country-specific results from each of the six markets. The survey was conducted by RetailX, who also co-authored the whitepaper.

PTS Papiertechnische Stiftung cordially invites to their workshop “Recyclability of paper & board based packaging” on March 11 and 12, 2025. This online workshop gives the opportunity to get a closer look at different main aspects of recycling and recovered paper. During the two-day course, the workshop covers the legislation and regulations for packaging waste and paper for recycling, the technical aspects of recycling including test methods and also the design to recycle packaging more effectively.
