4evergreen update

The last few months have seen remarkable member engagement and significant milestones, reflecting the shared commitment to advancing the circularity of paper-based packaging. With more than 100 member organisations involved in developing real-world solutions for paper-based packaging, 4evergreen’s collective strength was on full display as over 150 participants gathered in Brussels for the internal Face-to-Face Meeting on 26–27 May.

Throughout the programme, participants focused on strengthening the 4evergreen Toolbox, with discussions centred on better alignment, stronger use of data, and more practical, robust guidance. At the same time, workstreams tackled how to connect recyclability with collection and sorting realities, addressed fragmentation across systems and how to translate our technical output into effective and relatable messaging through a unique communications workshop.

This was accompanied by the release of our 2025 Annual Report, a special edition marking five years of coordinated collaboration, exploring the evolution of workstream activities and celebrating the people behind the achievements.

Following the Face-to-Face Meeting, the same energy carried through to our external webinar on 9 June, which attracted more than 430 registered participants. The session focused on how the requirements under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) can be consistently applied across the paper-based packaging value chain. Speakers highlighted the need for aligned technical approaches, addressed recurring questions, and explained how Design for Recycling principles are assessed in practice, as well as how the 4evergreen Toolbox supports implementation of the PPWR.

The Ambassadorship Programme has also continued to expand its reach, with more members actively promoting 4evergreen’s work at industry events — such as the Paper Bioeconomy Conference, Moulded Fibre Packaging Europe, Sustainability in Packaging Asia and Bobst Vietnam Roadshow — engaging new audiences with our Technical Toolbox and mission.

Looking ahead, we want to leverage the synergies built and facilitate cross-collaboration that extends beyond the workstreams as we push forward our technical work.
