Perego Carta presents Pergraphica® premium design papers at exclusive showroom in Florence
Consisting of both white and coloured design papers, the extensive Pergraphica® range of packaging and paper group Mondi is now fully listed with Italian paper merchant Perego Carta. To celebrate the occasion, Perego Carta held an exclusive opening event in cooperation with Mondi and Ricoh on 1 December 2023. The event was set to promote their new showroom in Florence, which vividly presents the Pergraphica® premium design paper range.

Marco Eikelenboom, CEO of Sappi Europe is the incoming Chairperson of Cepi
As of January 2024, Marco Eikelenboom, CEO of Sappi Europe takes over as Chairperson of Cepi from his predecessor Ilkka Hämälä, CEO of Metsä Group. Cepi is an influential trade association in the forest and bio-based industry sector. It is headquartered in Brussels, the capital of the European Union from where Mr. Eikelenboom will carry out his two-year tenure as Cepi’s chairperson.
UPM Raflatac reaches its all papers certified target years ahead of time
All papers sourced by UPM Raflatac, whether used as a face paper or a release liner in its labeling materials, are now certified under a credible third-party forest certification scheme. Having all papers certified is one of UPM Raflatac’s 2030 responsible sourcing and climate targets, which was now achieved six years ahead of time.
Valmet to supply IQ Web Inspection System to Yueyang Forest & Paper Co., Ltd. in China
Valmet has received an order from Yueyang Forest & Paper Co., Ltd. to supply an IQ Web Inspection System for its paper machine PM 8. The IQ Web Inspection System will replace an existing system from another supplier. Yueyang Forest & Paper’s PM 8 has already been equipped with Valmet IQ Web Monitoring System in 2019. After the implementation, Valmet’s machine vision systems will improve the operating efficiency and optimize the final paper quality of the PM 8.
Mondi: Four WorldStar Awards for packaging solutions
Mondi is celebrating a significant achievement at this year’s WorldStar Global Packaging Awards, having received four accolades across four categories. Mondi’s array of 2024 WorldStar Award-winning products include Hug&Hold (Non-Alcoholic Beverages), Protector Bag ExpandForm (Packaging Materials and Components), Statorfold (Transit) and Mix-Berry (Fresh Fruits and Vegetables).
Toscotec starts up an Ahead 2.2 tissue line at Europap Tezol Kağit
Europap Tezol Kagit started up a Toscotec-supplied Ahead 2.2 tissue machine at its integrated production facility in Mersin, Turkey. The new high efficiency line started producing high quality tissue immediately after start-up. The project also included two Optima slitter rewinders, with the first already in operation, and the second scheduled for installation soon. This is a repeat order for Toscotec who also installed a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer on their PM1 in 2012.
Andritz to supply high-temperature Yankee hood and air system to Kartogroup, Spain
International technology group Andritz has received an order from Kartogroup España S.L. to supply a new high-temperature PrimeDry Hood HT and an air system for a tissue machine rebuild at the mill in Burriana, Spain. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
Valmet and Saipem sign Memorandum of Understanding
Valmet and Saipem have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop joint solutions to decarbonize the industrial sectors that face significant challenges in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions, also known as hard-to-abate industries. The companies will collaborate to offer effective solutions combining Saipem’s technologies for CO2 management with the heat recovery and flue gas treatment units engineered and produced by Valmet for the pulp, paper and energy segments, thus bringing integrated and flexible options to their customers in both existing and new facilities.
4evergreen alliance publishes enhanced guidance on collection and sorting
The 4evergreen alliance unveils the latest version of its Guidance on the Improved Collection and Sorting of Fibre-Based Packaging, updating the 2022 version with further industry insights on collection routes in Europe. The tool, which recommends a two-stream collection system, has also been adapted to be more user-friendly and aligned with the rest of 4evergreen’s circularity toolbox.
Suzano selects Andritz solution for major fluff pulp expansion project
International technology group Andritz has received a follow-up order from Brazilian pulp and paper producer Suzano for a major conversion project at the Limeira pulp mill. The project will enable Suzano to increase its eucalyptus-based fluff pulp production capacity from 100,000 to 440,000 tons per year to meet the growing global demand for personal hygiene products. Suzano is the only company in the world producing fluff pulp from hardwood – based on Andritz technology.
Toscotec to supply major rebuild to Hamburger Containerboard Group
Toscotec will supply an entire dryer section rebuild to Hamburger Turkey, part of the Hamburger Containerboard Group, at their paper mill in Çorlu in Northern Turkey. The project focuses on their containerboard machine (PM3) and is planned for the end of 2024.
Valmet to supply automation and quality control systems to Union Paper Mills in Dubai
Valmet will supply Valmet DNA Distributed Control System (DCS) and Valmet IQ Quality Control System (QCS) with the latest web-based Valmet DNA User Interface to Union Paper Mills’ paper machine PM 2 in its Dubai facility, in the United Arab Emirates. The order was included in Valmet's orders received of the third quarter 2023. The delivery and start-up will take place in 2024. The value of the order is not disclosed.
