56th International Pulp and Paper Congress and Exhibition
Between October 1 and 3, ABTCP 2024 — 56th Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition will bring together all the links that form the production chain of the forest-based industry. Record attendance and industry innovation highlighted at Chemspec Europe 2024
The 37th International Exhibition for Fine and Specialty Chemicals concluded last week at the Messe Düsseldorf in Germany. The event welcomed 404 exhibitors from 27 countries, presenting their innovative substances and bespoke solutions on a record net exhibition space of 7,627m2. Increasing visitor numbers by 9.4% compared to last year’s edition, the show attracted a total of 4,548 trade visitors from 72 countries.
Sustainability and Print Innovation Awards 2024 open for entries
WAN-IFRA is inviting entries for its annual Sustainability and Print Innovation Awards. The World Printers Forum’s competition celebrates the most innovative newspaper and magazine publishers’ print products worldwide. The awards will be presented in Vienna at the World Printers Summit in September 2024.
Voith employee inducted into Paper Industry International Hall of Fame
On June 19, 2024, Christian Schiel, a former Voith employee, was posthumously inducted into the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame (PIIHOF) in recognition of his many innovative developments that contributed greatly to modern paper machine designs. The award was accepted by Michael MacGregor, a former colleague of Schiel and a co-sponsor of the award nomination, during a presentation at the Wisconsin Paper Council’s annual meeting in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Voith Group gets off to a good start in fiscal year 2023/24
The Voith Group performed well in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2023/24 (October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024) despite major uncertainties in the markets. The company's focus was on further improving profitability: Voith was able to increase both the operating result and the net income in the reporting period. Net liquidity and orders received also improved.
SCA recruits new Vice President Sustainability
SCA has recruited Per Funkquist as new Vice President Sustainability. Per Funkquist has extensive and solid experience in the forestry industry and will take up his new position on September 1, 2024. Funkquist, who holds a degree in forestry from SLU - the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, is joining from a role as Director of Communication and Sustainability Procurement & Wood Supply at another forest industry company.

Toscotec to participate in ANEX2024 in Taiwan
Toscotec will take part in the Asian Nonwovens Exhibition and Conference 2024, one of the global major Nonwovens exhibitions, scheduled from 22 to 24 May at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taiwan. The pulp and paper industry welcomes the vote at the EU Parliament on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) that supports the trilogue agreement and avoids delaying the legislative process. The last step will be a final confirmation of the agreement by the EU Council.

Heubach GmbH required to file for insolvency
Heubach GmbH filed an application today for the opening of regular insolvency proceedings over its assets with the competent insolvency court in Braunschweig and, at the same time, applied for the jurisdiction of the Braunschweig insolvency court as the group court for the German subgroup of the Heubach Group. The court is expected to appoint an insolvency administrator to examine the possibility of continuing business operations and possible options for restructuring and/or selling the business in due course.
