International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from AO Knauf Petroboard to install a new reeling section for the KM2 board machine at its mill in Kommunar, Russia. Start-up is scheduled for 2021.

Toscotec receives forth turnkey order from WEPA

Toscotec will supply an AHEAD 2.2S tissue line on a full turnkey basis to WEPA Piechowice mill in Poland. The project is planned in a short time frame, with start-up set for the third quarter of 2021. This is a repeated turnkey order for WEPA Piechowice mill, where an AHEAD 2.0S machine supplied by Toscotec on a turnkey basis came online in 2017.

Valmet to supply world’s largest bleached chemi thermo mechanical pulp line to Sun Paper’s Beihai mill in China

Valmet will supply the world’s largest bleached chemi thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) line to Guangxi Sun Paper Co., Ltd’s new Beihai mill in China. The start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021. The order was included in Valmet's orders received of the second quarter 2020. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Sustainable packaging solutions are more than just a trend. This also applies to the proven cardboard cores of the paper mill Carl Macher GmbH & Co. KG in Brunnenthal. The 170,000 tonnes of high-quality coreboard produced annually are used in a wide variety of industrial applications.

Toscotec to rebuild the dryer section of PM4 at Aviretta, Germany

German containerboard manufacturer Aviretta selected Toscotec to rebuild the post dryer section of its PM4 at Ettringen mill, Bavaria. PM4 produces test liner and fluting from 60 to 130 g/m². Start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.

Mondi introduces NextLiner

Mondi has developed the “world’s first” sustainable polycoated kraft (PCK) paper release liner, which is being launched on a global scale. Such liners are indispensable to carry and protect pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) products, and currently are often discarded once the PSA products are used. Mondi’s NextLiner uses a recycled base paper with a coating made from renewable resources. Using recycled fibres and renewable materials can have a positive impact on the environmental footprint of NextLiner, used in graphic arts, tapes and other industrial applications.

European recycling rate increased to 72% in 2019

The European paper recycling rate has increased from 71,7% in 2018 to 72% in 2019 due to a stable utilisation of Paper for Recycling (PfR) in the European paper industry. A great signal towards more sustainability is the fact that the collection of Paper for Recycling was maintained at high levels in Europe despite a decrease in paper and board consumption in Europe. The sharp and continued decline in Chinese demand for European Paper for Recycling was balanced by increased demand from other countries such as Turkey and India.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received the Final Acceptance Certificate from Jiangsu Bohui Paper Industry Co., Ltd in Yancheng, Dafeng, China, for its chemi-thermo-mechanical pulping system.

Laakirchen Papier and Voith launch joint flagship project to digitize paper machines

Paper manufacturer Laakirchen Papier AG demonstrated its future focus and adaptability by rebuilding its PM 10 from recovered magazine paper to corrugated medium in 2017. The company is now entering the age of digitalization with a large-scale project. The partner for the project, which is expected to transform the Laakirchen plant into a model digital site, is the Voith Group, which has been actively driving digital transformation in the paper industry for years.

From toilet paper to face masks

A technological innovation capable of producing up to 10,000 face masks per minute, adaptable to all main “non-woven” materials, including a particular bamboo-based material that can be disposed of with other organic waste: this is the patent filed by Fabio Perini, a Lucca based company which is part of the Körber Tissue Business Area. The technology, developed in just over a month during lockdown, can be quickly added to the company’s converting machines, new and/or already installed with customers all over the world.
