Tissue & Paper Bangkok will now take place in September 2020

Tissue & Paper Bangkok, the combination of the two long-standing brands of Asian Paper and Tissue World, which was originally scheduled to be staged in June 2020, will now be held at BITEC, Bangkok on 9 - 11 September 2020.

Stora Enso appoints David Ekberg as Head of Packaging Solutions division

Stora Enso has appointed David Ekberg as EVP, Head of Packaging Solutions division and member of the Group Leadership Team as of 1 April 2020. David Ekberg has held the role of acting Head of Packaging Solutions since 6 December 2019. Previously he was SVP, Head of Business Unit Corrugated Nordics in the division. Before joining Stora Enso in 2017, he held several leadership positions at Climeon and Ericsson.

Chemspec Europe postponed to November 2020

Mack Brooks Exhibitions has announced the postponement of Chemspec Europe, the International Exhibition for Fine and Speciality Chemicals. The 35th edition of the event, which was planned to take place at Koelnmesse in Germany from 27 to 28 May 2020, is postponed to 11 – 12 November 2020 following the escalation of COVID-19 in Europe and globally.

Coronavirus continues to spread: drupa postponed to April 2021

The drupa trade fair scheduled for 16-26 June 2020 will be postponed to 20-30 April 2021. In doing so, Messe Düsseldorf is following the recommendation of the crisis management team of the German Federal Government to take into account the principles of the Robert Koch Institute when assessing the risk of major events. Based on this recommendation and the recent significant increase in the number of people infected with the new corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), including in Europe, Messe Düsseldorf has reassessed the situation. In addition, there is the general ruling issued by the city of Düsseldorf on 11 March 2020, in which major events with more than 1,000 participants present at the same time are generally prohibited.

Circularity is a “no regret option” for the European industrial transition

European paper and board production follows the EU economy downward trend in 2019

According to preliminary figures, the European paper and board production has decreased by 3.0% in 2019 (European Paper Industry countries covered by the data: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom), compared to the previous year.

Ignazio Capuano started as the new Chairman of Cepi

As of January 2020, the new Cepi Chairman is Mr Ignazio Capuano, CEO of the Italian firm Burgo Group Spa and Vice President of the Italian paper manufacturers’ association Assocarta. Mr Capuano, who holds an Engineering degree and a Master's degree in Economy from the University of New York, has been working for the paper industry since 1991 as general manager of Saffa, CEO of Reno de Medici and presently, since 2016, as CEO of Burgo Group.

Lars Idermark to leave Södra

After just over seven years as President and CEO, Lars Idermark has informed the Board that he will be leaving Södra. The Board will now initiate a recruitment process for a new President and CEO. “Now that a new Group strategy is in place for the coming years, it feels like the right time to leave Södra. I will also be turning 63 and would like time for other things in life after nearly 30 years as manager and CEO in various companies and industries. There are also private reasons for my decision,” said Lars Idermark.
