Sappi Europe announces a price increase of 5-7% across its full range of Woodfree Coated (WFC) papers sold in European Markets. The increase will apply to all new orders and deliveries from 12 October 2026. The adjustment is necessary to address the continued escalation of costs across the supply chain. These cost increases have placed significant pressure on the economics of paper production and require a corresponding market response to ensure sustainable operations.

Valmet delivers recovery boiler modification to Stora Enso Varkaus mill in Finland
Valmet will deliver a recovery boiler modification including a new secondary superheater to Stora Enso’s Varkaus Mill in Finland. In addition, Stora Enso and Valmet have signed a three-year cooperation agreement covering process monitoring and operator training to support continuous performance improvement at the mill. The mill has an annual production capacity of 420 000 tonnes of containerboard and 335 000 tonnes of pulp.
Voith’s SteamBooster cuts energy use at the Kehl mill of Koehler Paper
At Koehler Paper’s Kehl mill in Germany, Voith’s SteamBooster is transforming high-temperature exhaust heat into valuable process steam. The turnkey solution is a central component in a three-stage heat recovery concept that is designed to lower natural gas consumption at the mill. The three-stage heat recovery setup, which has been in operation since June 2025, saves up to 1,500 tons of CO2 annually.
Valmet delivers the first commercial-scale 3D Fiber line to Metsä Group
Metsä Group has selected Valmet to deliver a 3D Fiber molded fiber production line for their mill in Äänekoski, Finland. The investment responds to growing demand for alternatives to replace plastics by enabling high-volume industrial production of three-dimensional fiber-based packaging that is competitive with similar plastic solutions. This investment marks a significant milestone as the world’s first commercial-scale implementation of the innovation. It follows Valmet’s extensive development, piloting, and the successful launch of the 3D Fiber technology in June 2026. The start-up of the line is scheduled for 2028.
Nanning Sun Paper selects Andritz as supplier for pulp and paper mill project
Nanning Sun Paper Co., Ltd. has awarded international technology group Andritz repeat orders to supply main process technology and key equipment for its third pulp mill line, as well as equipment for the new paper machine PM21, in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China. Start-up is scheduled for mid-2027. The orders have a total value in the mid double-digit million-euro range. They are included in Andritz’s order intake for the second quarter of 2026.
