Bio-based SolarFlow Green suction press roll cover ensures more sustainable paper production

Decarbonising the Italian pulp & paper industry

AFRY has been selected by Assocarta to define a decarbonisation strategy for the pulp and paper sector that is in line with EU framework, country-specific conditions, and technological advancements. AFRY’s assessment will outline an overall decarbonisation roadmap for the sector, pinpointing the best available technologies, regulatory and infrastructural obstacles, and competitive levers. Additionally, AFRY will provide an analysis of the pulp & paper sector in Italy, including potential scenarios to 2030 and required policies.

Toscotec to participate in ANEX2024 in Taiwan

Toscotec will take part in the Asian Nonwovens Exhibition and Conference 2024, one of the global major Nonwovens exhibitions, scheduled from 22 to 24 May at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taiwan. The company has recently launched the innovative Optima line for the Nonwovens market. Based on high control and efficiency, the new line is composed of the Optima winder and rewinder, featuring automatic tension and nip control, and a wide array of packaging solutions designed for the highest possible degree of customization.

New EU packaging rules are almost here

The pulp and paper industry welcomes the vote at the EU Parliament on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) that supports the trilogue agreement and avoids delaying the legislative process. The last step will be a final confirmation of the agreement by the EU Council.

Sappi Europe announces price rises for its Packaging & Speciality products

Sappi Europe will increase prices for its Packaging & Speciality products effective on deliveries as from June 2024. This increase is necessary to maintain the viability of Sappi’s business, the actual amount will depend on the product group. Flexible Packaging: 15%, Release Liner (CCK & Glassine): 15%, Label Papers: 10%.

Andritz completes combustion system upgrade on Essity tissue machine in England

International technology group Andritz successfully completed the upgrade of the combustion system on a through-air drying (TAD) tissue machine at the paper mill of Essity in Prudhoe. This is the third upgrade of this kind that Andritz carried out for global hygiene and health company Essity.

SCA to increase kraftliner prices by €60 per tonne

SCA increases the prices on brown and white kraftliner in Europe by €60 per tonne. The new price is valid from June 1, 2024. “There's a growing demand for kraftliner in the market, well-supported by a balanced supply chain. SCA needs to address the ongoing cost challenges effectively to ensure a continuous supply,” remarks Mikael Frölander, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at SCA Containerboard.

Toscotec starts up a complete tissue line at C. Y. P. Del R. S.A. in Colombia

Colombian tissue manufacturer C.Y.P. Del R. S.A. has started up a complete Ahead 1.8 tissue line supplied by Toscotec at its mill in Risaralda. This is a repeat order for Toscotec who has successfully installed a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer at the same mill on PM1 in 2021.
