Editor-in-chief
Dear ipw reader,

let's start the New Year with good news: The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has just released its 6th Sustainability report which is - once again - a convincing demonstration of its progress and ambition!

The facts speak for themselves: -43% CO2 emissions per tonne of product since 1990, were recorded in the new report and a recycling rate of 71.7%. 65% of wood delivered to European mills is certified and accidents reduced by over 60% in the last ten years. Today, the European pulp and paper industry is at the core of the bioeconomy, producing not only the original bio-based product that paper is, but also products that replace fossil fuel-based products. In this way, the industry has become a strategic sector in the EU economy, actively.

However, one can only hope that the EU won't skip its 20-20-20 goal tomorrow when an update of the climate action plan is given. And support this industry's new CEO-basta-campaign: they are asking for stringent policy making - something that is urgently needed...

We will, as always, keep you posted at any event!

Sincerely,

PS: The ipw tissue issue will be out on February 17th. Have you booked your advertisement yet?
