Susanne Haase
Editor-in-chief
Dear ipw reader,

after weeks of baking hot temperatures in Germany, a 3-minute video from Favini now available on YouTube serves as real refreshment!

The clip tells the story of the company’s new Crush paper and follows the career of citrus fruits from orchard to paper. In Italy, the home of Favini, one million tonnes of citrus fruit are used each year to make juice. Only 40%  is squeezed into juice, the remaining 60%  end up as “citrus mash”. This mash is used to make essential oils, bioethanol, pectin, candied fruit, tyres and many other products. The waste products from these processes is known as “depectinized mash”, and Favini uses  this “depectinized mash” to replace virgin pulps and other materials turning them into  high quality paper with a unique personality.

I have often claimed that the paper industry should be more proactive in promoting itself. This is a good example – at just the right time!

Sincerely,

PS: Our magazine Paperazzo won a prestigious award for its cover! Read more below.
