Susanne Haase
Editor-in-chief
Dear ipw reader,

just before the ZELLCHEMING Expo in Wiesbaden, Germany, and as if to underline that the theme of this year’s event - "Fibers in Process" – matching the need of times, arrive the latest news that doctors are using paper-based 3D printing to dramatically reduce surgical time.

Surgeons in Belgium employ paper 3D printing technology from Mcor Technologies to recoup hours from traditional surgical procedures. Working from the digitally scanned contours of patients’ bones, they push a button to create full-size 3D physical models they can use as surgical guides. When the sheets are cut and bound together, the model is tough, durable and stable – no infiltration is required. After use, models can be disposed of in the recycling bin for cradle-to-grave sustainability.

This is promising news and ipw is looking forward to seeing you at Wiesbaden this week!

Sincerely,

PS: As before, the focus is networking - a new feature is the Opening Night in the foyer of the Rhein-Main-Hallen. We cordially invite all exhibitors, visitors and conference participants to join us there on the first day at 6.30 pm. The second day ends with the popular summer evening at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden. Click here for online registration: www.zellcheming-expo.de/en/visitors/online-registration/.

PPS: Visit ipw and Biofibre magazine at Booth 12 in the entrance foyer and see our Paperazzo exhibit at the foyer upstairs!
