Following approval by the relevant authorities, the acquisition of NAF AB business by international technology group Andritz has been completed. This acquisition further strengthens the Andritz product portfolio in the field of process control and automation systems for pulp and paper mills and other process plants.

Toscotec will supply an Optima 1800 slitter rewinder to Algerian tissue manufacturer Africaine Paper Mills (APM) at their production facility in Rouiba near Algiers. The start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. Designed for high efficiency winding, the new Optima 1800 slitter rewinder will process near 2,800 mm width parent reels using two unwind stands. Toscotec will also supply a complete service package with erection supervision, training, commissioning, and start-up assistance.

Mondi will be showcasing its latest sustainable packaging and paper solutions based on its Pergraphica^®, IQ Grass+ Packaging and IQ Board brands at the touchpoint packaging (tpp) forum at drupa 2024 (Hall 3, Stand B31). These premium papers are uniquely suited to luxurious packaging applications and various types of personalisation, such as laser engraving.

Valmet is to deliver a Bale Tester to Papresa’s paper mill in Errentería, Spain. Valmet Bale Tester is a reliable and real-time measuring system for recovered paper, providing an opportunity to reduce operational costs and to improve the recycled fiber line performance. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the first quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The scheduled delivery period will be during the fourth quarter of 2024.

Saudi Arabia’s Middle East Paper Company (MEPCO) has commissioned full-line supplier Voith with the construction of an entire production line for recycled containerboard at its Jeddah mill. The state-of-the-art and highly efficient line will achieve an annual production volume of up to 450,000 tons of high-quality Testliner and Corrugated Medium in the basis weight range of 70 to 140 gsm. The planned design speed is 1,600m/min. The start-up of the complete production line is scheduled for Q4 2027.
