Tunadal’s new planing mill inauguration – an investment of 80 million SEK

SCA Woods new planing mill at Tunadal was on Wednesday, 31st of October, inaugurated. The investment in Tunadals planing mill of 80 million SEK means increased productivity and better prerequisites for product development and innovations.

Toscotec to supply one AHEAD-1.5S tissue line on a turnkey basis to C.A.S. Paper Mill in Thailand

Toscotec will act as a turnkey supplier and provide a complete AHEAD-1.5S tissue production line to C.A.S. Paper Mill in Sing Buri, Thailand. The delivery is scheduled for 2019 and the start-up for the first quarter of 2020.

Valmet gets repeat order from BillerudKorsnäs

Valmet has received a repeat order for a Valmet IQ Process and Quality Vision (PQV) system from BillerudKorsnäs Skärblacka mill in Sweden. The system will be installed on the mill's paper machine PM 7 to maximize the production line's efficiency, boost end-product quality and improve business performance.

Appointment of Chair Designate

Smurfit Kappa to expand its Southeast European footprint with the acquisition of the largest integrated packaging business in Serbia

Smurfit Kappa Group plc announced that it has agreed to acquire Fabrika Hartije d.o.o. Beograd (‘FHB’) paper mill and Avala Ada d.o.o. Beograd (‘Avala Ada’) corrugated plant, in Belgrade, for a consideration of €133 million (the ‘Transaction’) from Kappa Star Group.

Single-use plastic items will be banned in the EU

Items such as plates, cutlery, straws, balloon sticks or cotton buds, will be banned in the EU under plans adopted on Wednesday.These products, which make up over 70% of marine litter, will be banned from the EU market from 2021, under draft plans approved by Parliament.

Resolute Investing $40 Million in its Northwestern Ontario Operations and Spending an Additional $13.5 Million on Major Maintenance

Resolute Forest Products Inc. announced $40 million in investments at its Northwestern Ontario operations, in addition to $13.5 million in major maintenance and the creation of 25 new jobs. The announcement was made at a press conference in Thunder Bay attended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry Jeff Yurek, and many dignitaries and company employees.
