Georgia-Pacific Announces State-of-the-Art Lumber Production Facility

Georgia-Pacific announced plans for a new lumber production facility in Albany-Dougherty County, Ga. – at the Albany-Dougherty Industrial Park. Construction on the $150 million, 320,000-square foot, technologically advanced plant is targeted to begin in 2018 with an anticipated startup in late fall 2019. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to employ more than 130 full-time employees and generate an estimated $5 million in annual payroll.
Mac Papers Acquires Wilkerson Packaging Co.

Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., announced the acquisition of Wilkerson Packaging Co., an Atlanta-based packaging and facility supplies distribution business established in 1982.

Voith awarded historic contract from Green Bay Packaging for new paper mill

Citing Voith capabilities and technology leadership, Green Bay Packaging has announced a landmark contract award that tasks Voith with providing a complete packaging production line. The new PM 4 will be installed at Green Bay Packaging’s location in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.

Xerium Technologies, Inc. and Andritz AG announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Andritz will acquire Xerium for $13.50 per share in an all-cash transaction. This price per share represents a premium of 146.8% to the unaffected share price prior to the announcement by Xerium of a review of strategic alternatives on March 19, 2018.
Smurfit Kappa worked with global transport provider Scania to replace some of the materials used in its supply chain with paper-based packaging solutions.

Stora Enso invests EUR 25 million to boost green energy generation at Maxau Mill

Stora Enso has decided to install a new steam turbine with a closed-loop cooling system and additional biomass storage at its mill in Maxau, Germany. The investment cost is approximately EUR 25 million and implementation of the project is scheduled to start during the third quarter of 2018 with completion in 2020.
