Georgia-Pacific Announces State-of-the-Art Lumber Production Facility

Georgia-Pacific announced plans for a new lumber production facility in Albany-Dougherty County, Ga. – at the Albany-Dougherty Industrial Park. Construction on the $150 million, 320,000-square foot, technologically advanced plant is targeted to begin in 2018 with an anticipated startup in late fall 2019. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to employ more than 130 full-time employees and generate an estimated $5 million in annual payroll.

XERIUM TECHNOLOGIES TO BE ACQUIRED BY ANDRITZ AG

Xerium Technologies, Inc. and Andritz AG announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Andritz will acquire Xerium for $13.50 per share in an all-cash transaction. This price per share represents a premium of 146.8% to the unaffected share price prior to the announcement by Xerium of a review of strategic alternatives on March 19, 2018.

Smurfit Kappa worked with global transport provider Scania to replace some of the materials used in its supply chain with paper-based packaging solutions.

he packaging leader was working with the ‘Scania Parts Logistics’ division which is responsible for the distribution of all Scania parts. Scania has a complex supply chain with many different sized products, some of which are particularly fragile.

Stora Enso invests EUR 25 million to boost green energy generation at Maxau Mill

Stora Enso has decided to install a new steam turbine with a closed-loop cooling system and additional biomass storage at its mill in Maxau, Germany. The investment cost is approximately EUR 25 million and implementation of the project is scheduled to start during the third quarter of 2018 with completion in 2020.

Andritz received an order from AB Hilmer Andersson to supply a Universal Shredder FRP to their saw mill in Lässerud, Sweden. The FRP shredder will process wood waste and offcuts from the saw mill to be finally used as biomass for heat generation.
