Andritz launches the world’s most modern research center for tissue

Andritz has launched the world’s most modern research center for tissue, the PrimeLineTIAC Tissue Innovation and Application Center, in Graz, Austria. The opening ceremony, attended by around 150 customers and other stakeholders from the tissue industry, was a great success. Together with the Andritz experts and technical partner companies, the participants discussed the functions, designs, and features of the new PrimeLineTIAC and took a guided tour through the pilot plant. Several guest speakers also gave interesting inside views on developments in the tissue industry.
Ultramodern technology at Velvet CARE

On March 2nd, a new paper machine was started at the production plant in Klucze. the machine of 5.6 m width was produced by Valmet and represents one of the largest and most modern machines in the CEE market. Thanks to this, Velvet CARE will produce annually over 100,000 t of the highest quality hygienic tissue paper using its own 2 paper machines. This project was carried out with the participation of such institutions as BNP Paribas and EBRD.

Valmet and Ittihad Paper Mill agree on long term service co-operation at Ittihad Paper Mill, Abu Dhabi

Valmet and Ittihad Paper Mill LLC have signed an agreement on a long-term service co-operation at the new Ittihad Paper Mill in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Ittihad Paper Mill is in the process of constructing a 320,000 tpa (tons per annum) new fine paper machine, supplied by Valmet, which will be starting up in late 2018.
Smurfit Kappa Rejects International Paper Proposal

The Board of Smurfit Kappa has already carefully considered, with its financial advisers, the Proposal in detail and has unanimously rejected it on the basis that it fails entirely to reflect the Group’s superior prospects as an independent business and represents a valuation multiple significantly below recent comparable transactions.
Metsä Tissue invests in new converting line in Žilina mill

Metsä Tissue is acquiring a new tissue product converting line to its Žilina mill in Slovakia. The project has started, and the new converting line for consumer tissue products will be operative by the end of 2018. The total value of the investment is approximately EUR 10 million.

In addition to renewable diesel, the UPM Lappeenranta Biorefinery produces renewable naphtha - an excellent raw material for bioplastics.
