International Paper Completes Transfer of Their North America Consumer Packaging Business to Graphic Packaging

International Paper announced that it has completed the transfer of its North America Consumer Packaging business to Graphic Packaging. As a result of the transaction, Graphic Packaging has assumed $660 million of IP debt. IP now holds a 20.5% ownership interest in the subsidiary of Graphic Packaging that holds the assets of the combined business.

Andritz received an order from Dongguan Jianhui Paper to install three FibreFlow drum pulping systems at the mill in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China.Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.

Mondi to acquire Powerflute for €365 million

Mondi Group has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares in Powerflute Group Holdings Oy (“Powerflute” or the “Company”), a division of Nordic Packaging and Container Holdings (“NPAC Holdings”), for a total consideration of €365 million on an enterprise value basis.

Resolute Acquires Full Ownership of Donohue Malbaie

Resolute Forest Products Inc. announced the closing of a transaction to acquire the 49 percent equity interest held by The New York Times Company in Donohue Malbaie Inc. for a cash purchase price in the amount of C$20 million. Resolute already owned 51 percent of the shares of Donohue Malbaie.

UPM closes paper machine 5 in Blandin, USA

On October 24, UPM announced plans to permanently close paper machine 5 at UPM Blandin in Minnesota, United States in response to overcapacities in the North American paper market. All related processes have now been completed, and paper machine 5 will be permanently closed latest on 30 December 2017.

The Board of Directors has today appointed Hans Sohlström President and CEO of Ahlstrom-Munksjö, effective as of June 30, 2018, at the latest. Sohlström is currently the President and CEO of Ahlström Capital Group.

Martin Brudermüller to succeed Kurt Bock as Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors in 2018; Kurt Bock to be proposed for election at the Annual Meeting 2020 as successor to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board; Hans-Ulrich Engel to become Vice Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors and to remain Chief Financial Officer; Board of Executive Directors to consist of seven instead of eight members.

Juha Pilli-Sihvola appointed CFO of Metsä Tissue

Juha Pilli-Sihvola (M.Sc. Econ.) is appointed CFO of Metsä Tissue Corporation as of 1 February 2018. He reports to CEO Petri Helsky and is a member of Metsä Tissue management team. Pilli-Sihvola is in charge of Metsä Tissue’s finance and control organization as well as ICT matters.
