International Paper to Convert Riverdale Paper Machine

IP announced plans to invest approximately $300 million to convert its No. 15 paper machine at the Riverdale Mill in Selma, Ala. from uncoated freesheet to high quality whitetop linerboard and containerboard. The conversion is targeted to be completed by mid-year 2019. The investment will add 450,000 tons of annual capacity, with flexibility to shift between containerboard products.

Andritz starts up Fibria’s new pulp mill in Três Lagoas, Brazil

Fibria’s new pulp mill has a production capacity of 1.95 million tons of eucalyptus pulp per year. Combined with the existing mill at Três Lagoas the total production capacity reaches 3.25 million tons per year, thus making Três Lagoas one of the largest pulp production sites in the world.

Schweighofer Fiber, based in Hallein, is one of the largest manufacturing companies in Austria. The Company employs 240 people at its site in Hallein near Salzburg and produces pulp and bio-energy from renewable energy sources. Schweighofer Fiber had a turnover of about 143 million Euros in 2016 and is one of the most profitable of the top 250 industrial companies in Austria.

Lenzing Opens New Application Innovation Center in Hong Kong

The Lenzing Group is setting a further milestone in intensifying its cooperation with the partners along the value chain by its opening of a new Application Innovation Center (AIC) in Hong Kong. OK biodegradable MARINE certificate for Kelheim’s VILOFT® fibre

Kelheim’s viscose speciality fibre VILOFT® has been granted the OK biodegradable MARINE certificate from the Belgian certification body Vinçotte. The fibres were tested according to International Standards and confirmed they naturally break down completely in marine water.
