Toscotec to supply new MODULO-PLUS tissue line to Celupaper S.A

The new line will be installed at Papelera Nicaragua. This is the third order in 2 years: previously Toscotec has been chosen to reconfigure the existing Fourdrinier machine PM2 with the installation of the TT DOES package (Drying Optmization for Energy Saving) already started up in 2015 and to supply a new PM3 MODULO line that will start up in May, this year.

ANDRITZ to supply evaporation plant to Södra Cell Mörrum in Sweden

The new 7-effect high dry solids evaporation plant will replace existing evaporation lines and significantly enhance energy efficiency at the Mörrum mill. Start-up is scheduled for fourth quarter of 2017.

UPM's PM3 is officially inaugurated in Changshu, China

Valmet to supply a new screening and washing plant to Smurfit Kappa Cellulose Du Pin Biganos in France

Valmet will supply Smurfit Kappa Cellulose Du Pin Biganos pulp and paper mill in France with a new screening and brown stock washing plant for kraft liner pulp production. The new plant will replace old equipment and make the mill meet today's environmental requirements. The delivery is scheduled for the beginning of 2017, and the start-up for later the same year.

Two new appointments at Kotkamills

Pirjo Eteläinen has been appointed Director, Consumer Boards. She takes responsibility for the operating result of the business unit and will continue to develop the sales and support network ready for the launch of the new board machine at the end of June this year. In addition, David Ingham has been appointed Global Sales Director, Consumer Boards, and will take responsibility for the sales organisation and sales overall.

The Swedish Court of Patent Appeals has revoked Andritz's Swedish Patent

As Valmet announced by stock exchange release on February 20, 2015, Andritz Oy had filed a summons application with the Stockholm District Court against Valmet AB, a subsidiary of Valmet Corporation, regarding patent infringement.

Stora Enso divests its ownership in IL Recycling

Stora Enso has signed an agreement to divest its 33.33% ownership in the Swedish recycled materials company IL Recycling AB to Stena Metall AB, a Swedish recycling company. The consideration for the divestment of shares is approximately SEK 236 million (EUR 26 million), subject to customary closing day adjustments.

Fibria contracts new services for expansion of Três Lagoas Unit in Mato Grosso do Sul

Fibria, a Brazilian forestry company and the world’s leading eucalyptus pulp producer, has contracted the execution of electromechanical assembly, known as Balance of Plant (BoP), to interconnect all the process areas at the Horizonte 2 Project, which involves expansion of the pulp production line at the Três Lagoas Unit in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Full speed ahead at Iggesund’s Workington Mill

Production at Iggesund Paperboard’s mill in the UK is now fully operational again. At the beginning of March the board machine was shut down for a rebuild, in which its oldest part, the press section, was replaced with cutting-edge technology. The rebuild will increase the machine’s capacity by 20,000 annual tonnes from 200,000 up to 220,000 and will also enable further quality improvements in the future.

Smurfit Kappa has announced two operations restarting

Smurfit Kappa has announced that two of its European operations have restarted following extended shut downs during the first quarter of 2016. The company's PM4 machine, at its Sangüesa mill in Northern Spain, will now produce 30,000 tonnes per annum of high value Machine Glazed (MG) papers following its conversion from a 65,000 tonne per annum containerboard machine.

Valmet will supply board machine key technology and machine control systems in two new containerboard machines in China. The customer remains confidential. Valmet's delivery includes headbox and press section technology and a machine control system.

Production test factory for fossil free fuel is built in Bäckhammar

RenFuel and Nordic Paper have signed an agreement to build a production test facility in Bäckhammar in the region of Värmland, in order to test manufacture an advanced biofuel based on lignin. The project has been granted 71 million SEK by the Swedish Energy Agency.

EU ALGAE STAKEHOLDERS RELEASE GROUND-BREAKING AGENDA TO DEVELOP THE INDUSTRY

The Conference “European Roadmap for an Algae-Based Industry” was successfully held on 6-8 April in the Algarve region of southern Portugal.
