Inken Schoenauer
Editor-in-chief
Dear ipw reader,

in a recent study, the Technical University of Munich examined the increased demand of wood as fuel and what the economic, environmental and social consequences of the "run on the wood" could be in the future. Certainly, with rising oil prices wood will become more scarce, especially as more homes are heating with wood due to state subsidies. An important conclusion is the benefit of the multistage use of wood, "If you use wood, first as a building material, and only at the end as firewood, more favorable environmental effects can be achieved." (Prof. Klaus Richter).  See the full press release below as well as other recent news from our website  ipwonline.de.

Sincerely,

your ipw team
