AcercaRedes was established in 2012 under ARAUCO’s Innovation program, to facilitate areas in which to promote gatherings between businesses, organizations and production and social entrepreneurs, to further local development on all fronts, in territories that are located far from primary urban centers. Thus, the initiative aimed to facilitate instances to systematically increase the possibility of “improbable meetings” among diverse actors, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and partnerships.  
 
Matías Domeyko, Arauco’s CEO, was grateful for this acknowledgement and stated the company is very pleased with the initiative. “AcercaRedes is the way to build cross-wise networks and share the ones we have with entrepreneurs and innovators in order to improve the quality of life and the social and economic development of areas that are located farther away from opportunities.
