Lenzing: COO to step down from the management board

Friedrich Weninger, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lenzing AG, will not extend his Management Board contract which will expire on December 31, 2014. Weninger, who has been working for the company for more than 25 years and recently managed the company’s global production facilities with its more than 6,000 employees, decided for personal reasons that he would not seek a contract extension.

 
 

“On behalf of the entire company, we would like to thank Friedrich Weninger for his decades of committed work and his extraordinary achievements as an employee and as a Management Board member of the company“, says Michael Junghans, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lenzing AG. ”Recently the company profited from his experience and expertise as Chief Operating Officer, especially with respect to the successful restructuring of the Group as well as the planning and successful startup of the new Tencel plant in Lenzing. We are pleased that Friedrich Weninger will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity”.

Starting at the beginning of the year 2015, the tasks previously assigned to Mr. Weninger will be carried out by the remaining Management Board members Peter Untersperger (CEO), Robert van de Kerkhof (CCO) and Thomas Riegler (CFO).
