Metsä Board: Increasing prices for uncoated fine paper

Due to strong demand supply balance in uncoated fine papers Metsä Board increases prices for all its uncoated fine paper (WFU) business in Europe of at least EUR 50 per t. This will take effect for all deliveries invoiced from April 14.

Following a period of sustained price pressure over the latter half of last year, Metsä Board now sees a more positive outlook in the supply demand balance for its uncoated woodfree papers into 2014. Demand is usually at its strongest in the period over the first two quarters; however the demand seems to be particularly strong this year.

“Demand is strong and the outlook is more positive for our paper products right now, we think the time is right to rebalance pricing and get profitability back to a more sustainable level going forward”, explained Mattias Kronberg, VP Sales & Marketing, Linerboard and Paper.
