Varel mill: Constitutional complaint against Energy Industry Act

According to German press agency dpa, paper and board mill Varel, Germany, has filed a constitutional complaint against regulations in connection with the planned Energy Industry Act.

The paper and board mill fears that it might have to curb its energy production or to have to feed the energy produced in the public grid. In both cases, the mill would have to face considerable production losses and unscheduled costs amounting to millions. As no compensation is arranged for, this could be regarded as a violation of proprietary right.
