Wetend Technologies: R&D poject to develop Flash Mixing

Wetend Technologies Ltd. will invest 2 million euros during the next three years to develop the Flash Mixing technology. The application of this technology is mainly for the pulp, paper and board industries. The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, Tekes, will financially support this project.

 
 

According to Wetend Technologies, this technology, may bring a potential EUR 2 to 3 billion saving to the paper and board industry worldwide. This pioneering technology creates a significantly new efficiency to industrial processes. The mills become considerably more cost effective and consume less raw materials, energy and water. T

The objective of Wetend Technologies Ltd is to create a business structure of EUR 30 to 50 million. Wetend Technologies Ltd is also actively seeking technology partners for development and funding of business activities.

FiberLaboratory of Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences in Savonlinna, Finland is investing into the Flash Mixing project with its own research project in which Wetend, StoraEnso, Andritz, Aquaflow, Janesco, Pixact, Sulzer and VTT will participate. The estimated cost of the project is EUR 0.9 million. The research project will be financed by the participating enterprises, TEKES and FiberLaboratory. FiberLaboratory will expand its own research environment by investing in Flash Mixing laboratory and research equipment. The total investment of the FiberLaboratory building and to the research project will be EUR 1,5 million. The building will be financed by city of Savonlinna.

Aquaflow, a water treatment company, will start a related waste water treatment process development project, which is closely linked to the flash mixing project. At the same time Aquaflow has also made a new technology development agreement with FiberLaboratory. The total investment of Wetend Technologies, FiberLaboratory and Aquaflow is more than EUR 5 million.
