Smurfit Kappa provides innovative triple head filling line for SkanVin

Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box, the global expert in comprehensive Bag-in-Box® and Pouch-Up® packaging solutions, has installed a new triple head automatic filling line for bulk wine supply chain specialist SkanVin in Denmark.

Smurfit Kappa and SkanVin have been in partnership since SkanVin entered the Bag-in-Box® market with the packaging leader providing boxes, Bag-in-Box® solutions and taps.

The installation of the new triple head filling line follows on from SkanVin securing a deal with Treasury Wine Estates, one of the world’s biggest wine companies, as they stated. As SkanVin has responsibility for filling the Bag-in-Box® solutions for the Scandinavian and selected European markets, it required an efficient and reliable machine with high speed filling capability.

The triple head filling machine fills 45 3-litre Bag-in-Box® containers per minute. It has also been designed to minimise oxygen being picked up during the filling process, guaranteeing an excellent shelf life for the wine.

Smurfit Kappa has provided a state-of-the-art Bag-in-Box® filling line for Skanvin which includes a wrap-around box erector machine which runs at a speed of 47 beats per minute, three head fillers, a box closer and a Vitop handles insertor.

Speaking about the collaboration, Thierry Minaud, CEO of the Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box division said: “It was a pleasure collaborating with Skanvin to provide a solution that meets its high quality standard and strengthens its capabilities.”

Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box works to minimise its impact on the environment throughout all aspects of its operations.
