Estonian investors consider construction of pulp factory in Latvia

Investors that consider building a pulp factory worth EUR 1 billion in Estonia’s southern region allow for the possibility of getting permission for the same project in Latvia, because this process can take a long time in Estonia, according to LETA.

In January, Estonian Est-For investor group announced plans to build a pulp factory worth EUR 1 billion by 2022. The factory’s annual output will be 700,000 tons. The volume of raw materials necessary to support production will be 2.5 million-3.3 million m3 of pulpwood annually. The permits have been applied for with a goal of starting production in 2022 and the products will be exported, as reported by the Baltic News Network.
