First jumbo roll from converted PM 2 at Parenco

At exactly 12.00 hrs today the first jumbo roll of 100 grs paper was produced on PM2 at Parenco BV in Renkum, The Netherlands. During the past 13 months PM2, an idled newsprint machine, has been converted into a machine producing Testliner 3 and Fluting.

The production of the first jumbo roll marked a memorable moment for Parenco and machine builders Voith and Valmet. Voith has been responsible for the conversion of the 8,4 meter wide PM and the construction of the pulp line and starch preparation, Valmet for the construction of the new winder behind PM2.

The conversion of PM2 – an investment of 100 million Euro - was an important step in the investment program at Parenco that started almost four years ago when investment firm H2 Equity Partners acquired all shares. Goal: to guarantee the long term growth and continuity of the paper producer.

The PM2 products will be sold under the brand names parLiner and parFlute to corrugators throughout Europe, with an emphasize on the surrounding countries. Weights vary from 70 – 160 grs. Total capacity of PM2 is 385.000 tonnes.
