Testing devices for accurate & reliable measurement of particle charge, zeta potential at PulPaper 2022

Knowing the particle charge and the zeta potential of pulp suspensions is key to determining the right amount of additives needed in the wet end of the paper making process. Precise testing systems, such as the CAS touch and FPA touch from Emtec Electronic GmbH, allow manufacturers and chemical suppliers to achieve greater control over the chemical consumption and thus also over the quality of the final product. Emtec will be onsite at PulPaper in Helsinki from June 7-9, 2022.

Papermakers and chemical suppliers often want to evaluate the effects certain additives to the pulp have on process efficiency and product quality. To do this, two testing parameters in the wet end of the process are especially important: the particle charge and the surface charge of the fibers. The surface charge of the fibers is also known as the zeta potential. Lacking data on one or both of these parameters makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to manage the wet-end process efficiently and optimize the use of resources.

The CAS touch Charge Analyzing System from testing device manufacturer Emtec Electronic measures the particle charge and by this determines the amount of anionic trash particles in the pulp. The FPA touch Fiber Potential Analyzer, on the other hand, measures the surface charge of the fibers, also called zeta potential. Both devices are characterized by an easy handling, accurate and reliable results and a very light weight and small size, which allows for easy transportation, even in the hand luggage during flights.

Both devices, as well as others, will be on location at the international trade convention for the forest industry, PulPaper 2022, in Helsinki, Finland, from June 7-9, 2022. Those interested are invited to come by booth 6h29 and speak with Sales Area Manager Ulrich Kasten or local representative Loiri Loimaranta from partner company Pineco Trading Oy.
