Chemspec Europe 2020 postponed

Mack Brooks Exhibitions has today announced the postponement of Chemspec Europe,which was scheduled to take place at Koelnmesse, Cologne in Germany from 11 to 12 November 2020. The new dates for the next Chemspec Europe, 35th International Exhibition for Fine and Speciality Chemicals, are 19 - 20 May 2021. The exhibition will occupy Hall 12.1 at Messe Frankfurt in Germany.

Specialty paper consumption in North and South America to rise to 6.13 million tonnes in 2025 according to new Smithers analysis

A new dedicated study of specialty papers in North and South America finds these two regions consumed a total of 5.88 million tonnes in 2019. Market demand will drop as a result of Covid-19 in 2020 to 5.71 million tonnes before returning to positive growth (1.4% CAGR) and reaching 6.13 million tonnes in 2025 according to “The Future of Specialty Papers in North and South America to 2025”.

European recycling rate increased to 72% in 2019

The European paper recycling rate has increased from 71,7% in 2018 to 72% in 2019 due to a stable utilisation of Paper for Recycling (PfR) in the European paper industry. A great signal towards more sustainability is the fact that the collection of Paper for Recycling was maintained at high levels in Europe despite a decrease in paper and board consumption in Europe. The sharp and continued decline in Chinese demand for European Paper for Recycling was balanced by increased demand from other countries such as Turkey and India.

Paper industry’s recycling performance reaches highest level ever in 2019

In 2019, Cepi members produced close to 90 million tonnes of paper and board, of which 54.6% were based on recycled fibres - compared to 53.1% in 2018 - as indicated by the utilisation rate of Paper for Recycling (PfR). This exceptional performance goes hand in hand with a 72% paper recycling rate after 71.7% the previous year, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and circular business practices.

Informa Markets, the organiser of Tissue & Paper Bangkok has decided to postpone its 2020 event due to the evolving situation around coronavirus.
