Valmet to supply automation to AustroCel’s new bioethanol plant in Hallein, Austria

Valmet will supply automation to AustroCel’s bioethanol plant currently under construction in Hallein, Austria. The advanced automation technology will provide the plant with high operational flexibility, reliability and availability in producing biofuel to replace fossil fuel. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the first quarter 2020. The value of the order is not disclosed. The delivery will take place in June 2020, and the plant will start its operation at the end of 2020.

Valmet will supply automation technology to Stora Enso’s Oulu Mill in Finland. Valmet and Stora Enso share a long history of partnership and this delivery will strengthen the cooperation further. The automation orders are related to Stora Enso’s paper machine (PM 7) grade conversion project delivered by Valmet. The orders were included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2019 and the first quarter 2020. The automation technology will be delivered for the start-up of the rebuilt PM 7 which is scheduled for the end of 2020. The value of the orders is not disclosed.

The Spanish paper factory Papel Aralar commissioned Voith and the nonwoven fabric expert Trützschler Nonwovens to deliver a new system for specialty paper production. The PM 5 was developed as a joint project by both companies specifically for the wiping cloth industry. Delivery is planned for September 2020.

Valmet will supply new reel and winding technology and surrounding equipment for Metsä Board Kyro mill in Finland. In the rebuild, new reel and winder with an automatic transfer rail connection will be installed to modernize the board machine KK 1. The start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2021. The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the second quarter 2020. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The total value of an order of this type is typically around EUR 10-20 million.

Valmet to supply a mill-wide distributed control system to JK Paper Limited in India

Valmet will supply a complete mill-wide Valmet DNA Distributed Control System (DCS) to JK Paper Limited for their upcoming board project at Fort Songadh Mill in India. JK Paper selected Valmet’s automation system based on good references in technology, service support and low ownership costs. The installation is scheduled to start by May 2020. Established in 1978, Gulf Paper Manufacturing was the first company to start manufacturing paper in the Gulf region in 1981. Owned by two families of Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, it operates three production lines at its Mina Abdullah paper mill in Kuwait: PM1 produces packaging grades, mainly Fluting medium, Test liner and white top liner, using 100% recycled paper; PM2 manufactures tissue from 100% virgin pulp; the third is a tissue converting line.
