Valmet and Fabio Perini have established an Industrial Internet ecosystem partnership to strengthen collaboration in the tissue industry. The target is to allow tissue producers and converters to work together more efficiently, and to exchange knowledge and resources for the benefit of their customers. The partnership combines Valmet's comprehensive tissue making technology and process optimization know-how with Fabio Perini’s strong expertise in complete solutions for converting and packaging machines as well as in the converting process and technology. The two companies’ solid expertise combined with data from tissue mills and converting plants will provide a new dimension to tissue mill optimization.

Feldmuehle ended insolvency proceedings

Feldmuehle GmbH, European specialty paper manufacturer, has successfully completed the self-administration insolvency proceedings that began at the end of 2018. After the unanimous approval of all creditors on December 16, 2019 to the insolvency plan submitted by the management, the competent court in Pinneberg suspended the insolvency proceedings on January 2, 2020. The insolvency proceedings are now over.

Metsä Tissue has agreed to divest its napkin business to Mutares Group

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, has agreed to divest its napkin business to keeeper Group, which is part of Mutares Group. The transaction includes the real estate, machinery and equipment and warehouses at the Stotzheim mill in Germany as well as the Fasana and Mondial brands. As a result of the transaction, the mill’s personnel is planned to be transferred to the new owner as existing employees.

International recognition for Metsä Group´s Pro Nemus visitor centre

Metsä Group’s Pro Nemus visitor centre in Äänekoski has won numerous international design awards. The most significant of these, the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ award, was granted in Berlin in October 2019. In addition, the visitor centre won gold in the prestigious German Design Awards competition for excellent communications design, and silver in the European Design Awards competition. The visitor centre has also been featured in several distinguished design publications in the United States and Europe.

Functional Papers: two more grammages available

Sustainable packaging solutions are a hot topic all over the world. Sappi is already producing such solutions and can point to numerous successful examples. Demand from customers and interested parties from a wide spectrum of industries continues to grow. The worldwide acting paper and paperboard manufacturer therefore recently added two new grammages to its Sappi Seal range. In addition to the 67 g/m² version, the new 85 g/m² and 100 g/m² papers enable branded goods manufacturers to package an even more extensive variety of products with this functional paper – either as primary or secondary packaging.

Tokyo-based 50-50 joint venture DNP • SIG Combibloc Co., Ltd has announced that pioneering dairy manufacturer Moriyama is the first customer in Japan to run commercial production using SIG filling technology and the first to offer premium ready-to-drink (RTD) products in SIG carton packs locally filled in Japan.

Mondi joins 4evergreen alliance to complement existing forestry partnerships with WWF and WBCSD Forest Solutions Group

Mondi, global actor in innovative and sustainable packaging and paper solutions, has committed to join the 4evergreen alliance founded by CEPI, the pan-European association representing the forest fibre and paper industry. The aim of the alliance is to increase the share of fibre-based packaging in a circular and sustainable economy in order to minimise its environmental impact. The 4evergreen alliance is a three-year long project and will begin in January 2020 bringing together companies and organisations across the value chain.

Application period for Metsä Group’s summer jobs begins – real jobs and fair pay
