KaiCell Fibers appoints Esko Nenola as Director of Wood Supply

Finland’s KaiCell Fibers Ltd has appointed Esko Nenola, Forest Engineer, M.Sc. (Business Administration), Director of Wood Supply for the company’s biorefinery venture in Paltamo. He brings extensive international experience in wood sourcing and the entire forest relates value chain, as well as having taken part in corporate restructuring and other strategic tasks. Among his previous management position he was leading the mechanical wood processing operations of Swedwood/IKEA in Russia. more...

Andritz starts up production technologies for Metsä Group’s new bioproduct pulp mill in Finland

Andritz has successfully completed start-up of the key production technologies for Metsä Group’s new bioproduct pulp mill with an annual capacity of 1.3°million tons of pulp in Äänekoski, Finland. All Andritz processes were started up successfully according to the agreed schedules. more...

Voith builds new XcelLine board machine for Bohui Paper

In February 2017 Bohui Paper Group contracted Voith to supply a new board machine. The BM 4 will be built at Dafeng in the Chinese province Jiangsu and following completion will be one of the largest board machines in the world. Voith will supply the complete XcelLine process line from wet end process to winder. This reduces the number of interfaces for the customer to a minimum and provides cost transparency for the entire project. more...

Huntsman Clariant Deal Moves Forward

Clariant AG is pleased to announce progress towards satisfying the regulatory approval condition to closing its merger of equals with Huntsman Corporation. The United States Federal Trade Commission, which reviews the antitrust implications of certain business combinations, late yesterday delivered a second request for information to the parties relating to just two products - sodium isethionate, used in personal care products like soap and shampoos, and a polyetheramine product used in certain construction and additive/paint and ink applications. more...

Tembec pushes the limits of viscosity

After several months of laboratory work by the Research and Development team in Bordeaux France, Tembec has developed a very high viscosity cellulose grade. Just days ago, the production of this new grade, called Biofloc XV20, took place at the Tartas Specialty Cellulose mill in France. It is a tremendous success because a new world record for viscosity of a wood pulp was achieved. more...

Harvesting for Metsä Group’s bioproduct mill begins

Harvesting wood for the needs of the bioproduct mill in Äänekoski started today, on 11 August 2017. Until now, wood has been delivered to the old pulp mill and for the test runs of the new mill. The bioproduct mill start-up will begin in mid-August 2017. more...

Valmet completed shutdown of Klabin paper mill

Valmet has completed the annual shutdown of Klabin S.A. Monte Alegre paper mill in Brazil successfully. The agreement covered the entire shutdown project from planning and execution to a safe start-up. The shutdown took place between April 24 - May 5, 2017, and included close to 500 employees from Valmet and its sub-contractors. more...

Irving Consumer Products to invest $400 million in Giorgia, US

Gov. Nathan Deal, along with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, today announced that Irving Consumer Products, a leading producer of paper products, will create more than 200 jobs and invest $400 million in a state-of-the art tissue manufacturing facility in Macon-Bibb County. more...
