Valmet to supply coated board and fine paper making lines to Fujian Liansheng

Valmet will supply a folding boxboard making line (BM 1), a fine paper making line (PM 3) and a bleached chemi thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) production line to Liansheng Pulp & Paper (Zhangzhou) in Zhangzhou, Fujian province, China.

Voith modernizes and expands stock preparation plant for Modern Karton PM 3 in Ergene, Turkey

Modern Karton, manufacturer of cardboard packaging and packaging paper in Turkey, recently signed a contract with Voith for the extension and modernization of its existing OCC line. Within the scope of the contract, Voith will also supply a new stock preparation line for pulp and recovered paper. The new order follows the successful upgrade and expansion of the existing DIP line.

Toscotec to supply two TADVISION machines to Hengan Group in China

Toscotec will supply two TADVISION® tissue machines to Hengan International Group at its Shandong and Hunan mills in China. Toscotec’s TADVISION® line is designed to ensure superior bulk, softness and absorbency. With this order, Hengan breaks through the barrier of conventional and textured tissue in the Chinese market, aiming to manufacture top quality structured tissue with the highest bulk, softness and absorbency properties. The start-up is scheduled for 2022.

Robotic solution for de-wiring in the area of pulp supply

The specialist for automation solutions, cts GmbH, offers a new, highly efficient robotic solution for the dewiring of pulp bale units in the incoming material area of companies from the pulp and paper sector. Up to 28 of the bale units weighing tons can be dewired per hour fully automatically with the cts dewiring robot DWR-U. By this, 1 robot can serve 2 or more independent lines in parallel.

Valmet delivers all main process islands and automation for Metsä Fibre's Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland

Valmet and Metsä Fibre, which is part of Metsä Group, have finalized the agreement for the key technology delivery covering all main process islands and automation systems for Metsä Fibre's Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland. The new bioproduct mill will have an annual pulp production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes and in addition produce various other bioproducts. The new totally fossil fuel free mill is scheduled to start-up in the third quarter 2023.

ABB delivers first-of-its-kind winder safety system for New Zealand paper mill

Oji Fibre Solutions, producer of market pulp, paperboard and fiber-based packaging, has appointed ABB to supply a specially-designed winder safety system – the first of its kind in New Zealand – as well as a winder drive control system and DCS880 drives. With the mill’s existing winder equipment installed more than 30 years ago, the upgrade will help Oji Fibre ensure safe and efficient future operations, in line with recently updated safety requirements.

Mondi Steinfeld certified as CO2 neutral for its manufacturing operations

Mondi Steinfeld in Germany has been certified as CO2 neutral for its manufacturing processes by ClimatePartner, an organisation which supports companies in reducing and offsetting their CO2 emissions. This certification was awarded as a result of Mondi Steinfeld switching to renewable energy and supporting certain climate projects in 2020.

JSC Yarpaper successfully starts up PM1 after major rebuild by Toscotec

Toscotec successfully accomplished an extensive rebuild of Russian containerboard manufacturer JSC Yarpaper’s PM1 at their mill in Yaroslavl, near Moscow. PM1 has a wire width of 2,830 mm and produces 100% recycled-based fluting and test liner in the range from 90 to 175 gsm. The rebuild has optimized the entire paper machine, from the approach flow system to the dryer section, and has achieved the targets of production increase and quality upgrade.

Metsä Spring invests in Montinutra, a startup that commercialises wood extract

Metsä Group’s innovation company Metsä Spring Ltd has made an equity investment in Montinutra Ltd, a startup converting forest industry side streams into high-value bioactive products. The financing round totals approximately EUR 1 million, and Metsä Spring is participating in the round with current and new private investors.
