Toscotec to rebuild the dryer section of PM4 at Aviretta, Germany
German containerboard manufacturer Aviretta selected Toscotec to rebuild the post dryer section of its PM4 at Ettringen mill, Bavaria. PM4 produces test liner and fluting from 60 to 130 g/m². Start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020. › more |

Mondi introduces NextLiner
Mondi has developed the “world’s first” sustainable polycoated kraft (PCK) paper release liner, which is being launched on a global scale. Such liners are indispensable to carry and protect pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) products, and currently are often discarded once the PSA products are used. Mondi’s NextLiner uses a recycled base paper with a coating made from renewable resources. Using recycled fibres and renewable materials can have a positive impact on the environmental footprint of NextLiner, used in graphic arts, tapes and other industrial applications. › more |

European recycling rate increased to 72% in 2019
The European paper recycling rate has increased from 71,7% in 2018 to 72% in 2019 due to a stable utilisation of Paper for Recycling (PfR) in the European paper industry. A great signal towards more sustainability is the fact that the collection of Paper for Recycling was maintained at high levels in Europe despite a decrease in paper and board consumption in Europe. The sharp and continued decline in Chinese demand for European Paper for Recycling was balanced by increased demand from other countries such as Turkey and India. › more |

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received the Final Acceptance Certificate from Jiangsu Bohui Paper Industry Co., Ltd in Yancheng, Dafeng, China, for its chemi-thermo-mechanical pulping system. › more |

Laakirchen Papier and Voith launch joint flagship project to digitize paper machines
Paper manufacturer Laakirchen Papier AG demonstrated its future focus and adaptability by rebuilding its PM 10 from recovered magazine paper to corrugated medium in 2017. The company is now entering the age of digitalization with a large-scale project. The partner for the project, which is expected to transform the Laakirchen plant into a model digital site, is the Voith Group, which has been actively driving digital transformation in the paper industry for years. › more |

From toilet paper to face masks
A technological innovation capable of producing up to 10,000 face masks per minute, adaptable to all main “non-woven” materials, including a particular bamboo-based material that can be disposed of with other organic waste: this is the patent filed by Fabio Perini, a Lucca based company which is part of the Körber Tissue Business Area. The technology, developed in just over a month during lockdown, can be quickly added to the company’s converting machines, new and/or already installed with customers all over the world. › more |

From 1 October 2020, Marco Esper will join the Management Board of Heimbach GmbH. He will succeed Peter Michels, who will retire on 31 December 2020 after 25 successful years as Managing Director. › more |

Valmet receives the eighth tissue line order from Hayat Kimya
Valmet will supply the eighth tissue line delivery including an extensive automation package to Turkish tissue producer Hayat Kimya. The company has decided to invest in a third machine in Russia in order to meet the increasing demand for their high-quality tissue products. This is the first machine at their new mill outside Moscow. The new line will add 70,000 tons of tissue to company’s current production of facial, toilet and towel tissues. › more |

ANDRITZ PrimeLineTM W6 tissue machine at Arkhbum Tissue Group in Russia delivers top quality
Only a few weeks after start-up, the 5.6 m wide PrimeLineTM W6 tissue machine that was delivered by ANDRITZ to Arkhbum Tissue Group LLC in Vorsino (Kaluga region), Russia, reached a speed of 2,000 m/min with a grammage of 16 g/m² and is now producing high-quality facial, toilet, napkin, and kitchen towel grades made of 100% virgin pulp (bleached hardwood and softwood pulp). › more |

Stora Enso and Helsinki Olympic Stadium partner up to promote circular economy solutions
Stora Enso and Helsinki Olympic Stadium have signed a partnership agreement to develop low-carbon, eco-friendly operations at the stadium by promoting the use of renewable materials and circular economy solutions. Stora Enso explores reusing products as well as recycling used materials to give high-quality wood fibers a second life in new products that will be available at the stadium for different services and operations. › more |
