Valmet will supply Valmet DNA automation systems and Valmet IQ quality control systems to Jiangxi Taison Paper's four new tissue machines, TM7, TM8, TM9 and TM10, at its greenfield mill in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, China. By installing Valmet's advanced automation technology in these tissue machines, the mill will be able to optimize machine performance and end-product quality. › more |

A Valmet supplied demonstration scale plant for second generation sugar extraction officially opened at Sappi Ngodwana Mill in South Africa
In 2016 Sappi and Valmet agreed on a joint development project to deliver a demonstration plant to Sappi Ngodwana Mill in South Africa in order to explore and optimize the extraction of biorenewable chemicals. The demonstration plant was officially opened on April 5, 2017. Guests from all over the world participated in the opening ceremony which included speeches from Sappi and Valmet management representatives. › more |

Satellites map carbon sequestered by forests, with accuracy of up to ten metres
Led by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the EU North State project has developed a new method of using satellite images to evaluate the forest carbon balance. The carbon balance indicates how much carbon is sequestered or released by forests each year. This enables the carbon balance to be displayed on digital maps, with an accuracy of up to ten metres. › more |
