Last Friday, the jury chose the winners of this year's Paperazzo "Haptic Award" in seven categories of paper products (such as packaging, stationary, image broshures, books). The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on September 21st. See www.paperazzo.de for more information. The nominees will be posted shortly.

Flying Eagle of Kotkamills starts up successfully

Bellmer Vaahto has been the main supplier of the 5, 4 m wide magazine paper machine conversion into board production at Kotkamills in Finland. BM2, The Flying Eagle machine, was started up in July according to the plan. The machine produces high quality consumer boards for demanding global customers.

Stora Enso invests in corrugated

Stora Enso is investing a total of EUR 6.6 million in the corrugated packaging business in Sweden. The aim is to strengthen competitiveness and to improve printing quality and service to customers. The investment encompasses a new corrugated cutting machine with high-quality printing in the Jönköping factory, and a smaller upgrade of the cutting system in the Skene factory.

SCA plans to split the Group into two listed companies

SCA is a leading global hygiene and forest products company. Today about 85% of the Group sales derives from the hygiene business and about 15% from the forest products business. To create further value for the shareholders, the SCA Board of Directors plans to initiate work in order to propose to the Annual General Meeting 2017 to decide on a split of the Group into two listed companies. This is planned to be completed through a distribution of the Group’s hygiene business to its shareholders in accordance with the rules of Lex Asea*.

Robert Pachler New Marketing and Communications Director at Prinzhorn Group

The Austrian Prinzhorn Group has appointed Robert Pachler to the role of Group Marketing and Communications Director, starting 1st of August. In this newly created function, Salzburg born Pachler will be in charge of all internal and external marketing activities of the family owned recycling, paper and packaging manufacturer.

The rebuilt paper machine successfully started up at VPK Paper's Oudegem mill in Belgium

After a comprehensive rebuild supplied by Valmet the rebuilt paper machine PM6 at VPK Paper's Oudegem mill in Belgium has been successfully started. The rebuild in the forming, drying and reeling sections will lift up PM6's production capacity from approximately 185,000 t/a to some 200,000 t/a of high quality packaging grades.

New production facility in Valkeakoski up and running

The new production unit in Walki’s Valkeakoski plant has made the first deliveries to customers. So far the production line has met expectations. The new production line comes with the latest technology when it comes to quality measurement and process control systems, ensuring high and consistent quality.
