UPM sells its Schwedt mill to LEIPA Georg Leinfelder GmbH

UPM has signed an agreement to sell its Schwedt newsprint mill site and relevant assets to LEIPA Georg Leinfelder GmbH for the aim of a conversion into liner production. The entire personnel of Schwedt mill will transfer to LEIPA as old employees. The transaction price is EUR 70 million. The transaction is subject to customary third party approvals.

Obama and Merkel inspired by ABB at Hanover Fair

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama were the first to experience ABB's groundbreaking new smart sensor digital technology at the Hanover Fair on Monday. The two leaders were shown how ABB’s smart sensor can improve the productivity of hundreds of millions of electric motors by connecting them for the first time to cloud-based services.

Constantia Flexibles invests in new capacity in Germany

Constantia Flexibles is investing approximately four million Euro in new capacity at its manufacturing site in Weiden, Germany. The total investment is approximately four million euro. The new 10 color rotogravure printing machine will start production in the second quarter of 2017.

20% Capacity Increase of Corrugated Base Papers in Europe until 2019

The European Association of Makers of Corrugated Base Papers, Cepi ContainerBoard (CCB)/ Brussels, informs that the European market for corrugated base papers was relatively balanced during the last three years. For the years 2016 and 2017 the association also assumes a balanced market.

Valmet to supply a wood pellet heating plant to the Helen Salmisaari power plant in Helsinki, Finland

Valmet will supply a wood pellet heating plant to Helen Oy's Salmisaari power plant. The wood pellet plant will enable Helen to increase the use of bio fuels in district heat production in Helsinki. The new plant helps the city of Helsinki to meet its aim of increasing its production of renewable energy. The start-up of the heating plant is expected to take place at the beginning of 2018.
