International Paper to Sell Asian Corrugated Packaging Business

IP announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its corrugated packaging business in China and Southeast Asia to Xiamen Bridge Hexing Equity Investment Partnership Enterprise. International Paper's corrugated packaging business in Asia has 18 plants and a workforce of approximately 3,000 employees.

Valmet to supply new white liquor plant to CMPC Celulosa S.A

Valmet will deliver a new white liquor plant to CMPC Celulosa S.A.'s Laja pulp mill in Chile. The new white liquor plant will replace the existing one and will comply with new environmental permits coming into force in 2018. Furthermore it will give higher white liquor plant production rate and increase flexibility of the lime cycle management within CMPC Corporation. Start-up of the new plant is scheduled to be in February 2018.

ANDRITZ successfully starts up new equipment for stock preparation upgrade at VPK Paper, Belgium

Andritz has successfully started up pulping and screening equipment delivered for VPK Paper's PM 6 at Oudegem, Belgium. The upgraded stock preparation line processes corrugated paper and board packaging grades, boxboard cuttings, as well as corrugated board and has a feed capacity to the existing low-consistency pulper of approximately 900 tons per day.

2 new orders for Valmet automation technology from Kotkamills in Finland

Valmet has received two orders for automation technology from Kotkamills Oy in Finland to complement the paper machine technology and automation system orders received in April and July 2015 for a paper machine conversion project.

SOFIDEL CONTINUES TO GROW IN EUROPE BY INVESTING IN HUNGARY

The operation includes the acquisition of new customers, the Forest brand, an overall converting production capacity of 30 thousand tonnes and a converting plant in Piszke. The framework of the agreement also includes buying approximately 90,000 square metres of land.

UPM closes Madison Paper Industries

UPM-Kymmene Inc. and Northern SC Paper Corp., a subsidiary of the New York Times Company, announced today the dissolution of their partnership, Madison Paper Industries, in the USA. The partnership's paper business will end and paper production is expected to conclude by the end of May at the latest. Hydro power assets located at the mill site will be sold.

Valmet receives repeat order for two new tissue production lines from Lee & Man Paper

Valmet will supply two Advantage DCT tissue production lines and related automation systems to one of China's leading paper and pulp producers, Lee & Man Manufacturing Ltd. The new lines will be installed at Lee & Man's mill in Chongqing and start-up is planned to take place in late 2016.

Bio-based commercialization is the focus for global expert gathering

Global production of bio-based chemicals now exceeds 60 million tonnes, with the global market for them expected to increase to at least $12.2bn by 2021. We are moving away from bio-based chemicals being made by small, niche producers and only used by a narrow group of brands. Instead they are becoming a major part of corporate strategy, which can deliver a boost across the the triple bottom line (financial, social and environmental).
