Dear ipw reader,

Just two months ago, it became obvious that investments are definitely picking up in this industry. Now it seems that this comes true for profits as well! UPM has just released fresh figures showing an impressive 35% improvement compared to Q2 2013.

What is more: All of the company’s strategic growth projects have made solid progress. And: Jussi Pessonen even expects an additional EUR 200 million EBITDA in the coming two years! Could it be possible that this industry is back on track?

Another big piece of news these days is Metso’s announcement to study potential divestment for its Process Automation Systems business. I have been asking about this for months now and was always told that it was not an option…

However, that is part of the game and I will report on the developments in any event and would wonder if this extremely sophisticated product portfolio and outstanding team of experts wouldn’t fly off the shelves.

Sincerely,
