Sappi Addresses Changing Demand for High Quality Speciality Papers

An ambitious rebuild of Papermaking Machine 2 (PM2) at Sappi’s Alfeld Mill will create the world’s largest papermaking machine producing one-side coated and MGBK (Machine Glazed Bleached Kraft) speciality grades. This complex and meticulously planned project, a €61 Million Investment, has created a great deal of excitement, both in the local community and in the packaging world at large.

UPM: New business structure to sharpen focus

UPM’s new structure will consist of the following Business Areas and reporting segments: UPM Biorefining, UPM Energy, UPM Raflatac, UPM Paper Asia, UPM Paper Europe and UPM Plywood. Forests and wood procurement will be reported in Other operations. The new structure will be valid as of 1 November 2013.

Ahlstrom: Expanding its rightsizing program

Ahlstrom will initiate a rightsizing program aiming to reach annual cost savings of EUR 35 million by the end of 2014. As a result of the planned program, Ahlstrom's personnel are estimated to be reduced by approximately 350 people globally. The employee consultation processes will start in accordance with local legislation.

Andritz: Supplying drum pulping system for Taishan Gypsum's paper mill, China

Andritz received an order from Taishan Gypsum for delivery of a FibreFlow drum pulper to the paper mill in Tai’an City, Shandong province, China. The mill produces high-quality mask paper for gypsum board. Start-up is scheduled for March 2014.

Voith: Expanding portfolio for pulp drying

With a further-developed press fabric, Voith is expanding its clothing portfolio for pulp production. Voith already delivers entire pulp drying machines, from the headbox and the innovative vertical dryer section to the cross-cutter and bale packing – the forming fabrics and roll covers from Voith are now supplemented by the further-developed CellFlex VMax press fabric.

Neenah Paper Reports Second Quarter 2013 Results

Neenah Paper, Inc. has reported adjusted earnings from continuing operations of $0.80 per diluted common share in the second quarter of 2013 compared with $0.85 per share in the second quarter of 2012. Excluding adjustments, GAAP earnings in the second quarter were $0.77 per diluted common share in both periods. Adjusted earnings excluded costs of $0.03 per share in 2013 primarily for refinancing the Company’s senior notes. In 2012, adjusted earnings excluded costs of $0.08 per share to integrate acquired brands.
