UPM: Investing in new woodfree specialty paper machine in China


UPM takes further steps to reshape its business portfolio and expands in profitable growth businesses in Asia. The company will increase its presence in the attractive Asian paper segments and strengthen its position in the label materials value chain by building a new woodfree speciality paper machine at its Changshu mill in China.

Voith Paper: NipVision makes the invisible visible

Voith launched NipVision, an online and real-time measurement tool using the latest roll cover technology. It is the first system to measure nip pressure, profile and importantly the cover temperature while the paper machine is running.

China: Sawlog imports fell by 15% in 1H/2012 compared to 2011

The slowing economy in China has reduced the importation of logs from New Zealand, Russia and the US by about 15% during the first six months of 2012 reports the Wood Resource Quarterly.

Stora Enso and Neste Oil end their biodiesel project

Stora Enso and Neste Oil have decided not to progress with their plans to build a biodiesel plant, for which the two companies had applied for funding under the EU’s NER 300 program. The European Commission recently published a review on its Web site of projects that have applied for NER funding, and Neste Oil’s and Stora Enso’s project is not among those listed as scheduled to receive this funding.

Metso Paper: Paper Lab to JK Paper Ltd., India

India's largest producer of branded photo copier and cut-sized office papers, JK Paper Ltd., has awarded a contract to Metso for supply and start up of Metso Paper Lab, paper and board quality analyzer, for automatic testing of paper properties at its Rayagada paper mill.

UPM finalises the sale of its closed Albbruck paper mill

UPM has completed the sale of its closed Papierfabrik Albbruck GmbH to the German Karl Group. UPM permanently ceased graphic paper production at the mill situated in Baden-Württemberg, Germany in January 2012.

RAO Bumprom, the Russian Association of Pulp and Paper Organisations and Enterprises, recently announced their support for Adforum and Restec Brooks organised exhibition IPX Russia, held in Moscow on April 11 to 13, 2013.

Andritz: PrimeLineCOMPACT II tissue machine with steel yankee to Hebei Yihoucheng

Andritz has received an order from Hebei Yihuocheng Commodity Co. Ltd., China, to supply a PrimeLineCOMPACT II tissue machine with steel yankee. Start-up is scheduled for the end of 2013.

Andritz: Successful start-up of world's largest steel yankee for tissue

Andritz has successfully started up the world’s largest steel yankee for tissue at Hengan Group Jinjiang. The PrimeDry Steel Yankee, with a diameter of 4.9 m and a shell length of 6.2 m, is part of the new Andritz PM15 and enables safe and energy-efficient machine operation.

Voith: Rebuild increases production by 10% at Stora Enso Sachsen

After Voith carried out a rebuild of the Eilenburg PM 1 at Stora Enso Sachsen, Germany, the paper machine was successfully started up again in May 2012. Already one month after rebuild, the operation speed exceeded 1,900 m/min.
