Dear ipw reader,

before drupa, the world’s biggest printmedia fair, some experts said that this event will be an important indicator of the further development of the printing and media industry. So, what did drupa tell us? Apart from a good decrease in visitors and a rebound of orders from printing houses in the US, it showed that one man can be enough to make people dream.

Benny Landa, head of Landa Nanography was heavily promoting a new nano-ink printing technology and thousands of people were lining up to see a mere (albeit beautifully choreographed) sales show.  Admittedly, the prototypes of his machines had an attractive iPhone-look - but after all I am not sure if this hype is really justified (also having in mind that first deliveries were promised for the end of next year).

However, it showed that this industry is still able to dream. And that is definitely a good sign!

Sincerely,
