PulpEye overcomes pandemic obstacles with a special service package

To minimise the spread of Covid-19, mills are very restrictive to receive visitors unless critical to mill production. On top of that, several travel restrictions are in place and even changing from time to time which makes personal visits very difficult. PulpEye has therefore created a special service package including weekly follow-ups on remote basis to overcome these problems.

“In spite of the pandemic the pulp and paper industry is to a large extent running as normal, which means that the need of service for equipment remains,” says Öjvind Sundvall, MD of PulpEye. “We know that the hardware in our PulpEye technology is robust and reliable. And by a remote weekly follow-up we can maintain the performance of our customers’ online analysers, irrespective of where they are. By agreeing to this special service package, potential problems can be detected and at an early stage solved before they negatively impact quality and efficiency.”

“The present Corona pandemic creates a lot of obstacles for all of us and e.g. that many mills do not receive visitors, including service technicians. In these cases, we cannot do preventive service on-site according to our service contracts,” says Anders Forsberg, Service Manager at PulpEye. “This might result in equipment availability problems as well as needs for emergency service, which creates difficulties for the mills as well as for PulpEye. On top of that, when all restrictions are lifted many mills might want service at the same time, which could lead to a temporary resource problem.”

To secure equipment availability, cater for service activities spread over time and reduce emergency problems which can be covered by remote service, PulpEye is offering this solution. It comprises an extended weekly support via remote connection, verification of sampling and measurement functions and a weekly status report. This will minimise the possible need for emergency service and secure long-term PulpEye performance.

“This service package will for many customers be an eye-opener as it reveals additional real values of our tools,” Öjvind Sundvall stresses. “I am convinced that it will be an inroad to PulpEyeOnTarget/PulpOnTarget, our concept to get much more value out of the huge amount of analysis data created by our analyser equipment. Users have realised that a deeper cooperation between PulpEye and customers contributes to higher efficiency and improved product quality.”
